Armagnacs Darroze celebrates its 50th anniversary

In 1974, Francis Darroze, renowned for the richness of his wine and armagnac cellar in the family hotel restaurant in Villeneuve de Marsan in the Landes region, selected his first three barrels of estate-owned armagnac.

Francis’ philosophy is innovative in the world of spirits: to preserve the originality of each eau de vie, excluding any intervention in the tannins, balance or style of each Armagnac. The names of the estates, the vintages and the bottling dates are clearly identified on each label. RESPECT as much as possible the work of each winemaker and the influence of each terroir.

The adventure began 50 years ago.

Today, Darroze works with 30 different estates, distills each year in 15 of them, ages and matures a stock corresponding to 20 years of sales, and distributes its bottles in over 50 countries. The Collection Unique remains the flagship of the company, and the Grands Assemblages have now been added. Organic armagnacs are also promoted, as are white eaux de vie for mixology.

In 50 years, the Darroze family has built a brand that counts in Armagnac and well beyond the borders of the Gascon region.

Marc Darroze and his teams have been preparing the programme for this special year for several months. It will be punctuated throughout the year by a host of events, with new products ranging from the most classic to the most original.

Here’s a sneak preview of the programme

a special edition of 1974 decanters of the 50th anniversary cuvée, which will be a blend of 7 pivotal years in the development of the company,

major innovations for the bar world, with the release of two cuvées (a VS and a blanche d’Armagnac) for mixology, packaged in original bottles and packaging in line with the brand’s CSR approach,

a range of Armagnacs labelled “French Brandy” because they have been in contact for several weeks or months with barrels from Sauternes, Port, Jurançon and other white and red wines,

and a host of events scheduled throughout the year.
